Chamalo’s background is all about music and dance. Starting with his musical Congolese family, passing by hip-hop at age 10, diversifying with Afro, Dancehall, House Dance etc, starting teaching and coaching young dancers at 17 years old and finally getting to Kizomba a few years ago. He also used to be a drummer and play in church. In 2016, together with his former partner, he shot 3 champion titles with only one show at the International Kizomba Championship – AfricAdançar, being the first to achieve such a performance.
Chamalo’s dance & teaching partner is Mirty, who also grew up in a dancing environment, with her mother being a Latin dances teacher. She started her dancing career at 5 years old with Jazz and ballet and her teaching career at 21, with Salsa. 2015 is the year when she met and fell in love with Kizomba.
When they don’t travel for international Kizomba events, you can find this lovely dance couple in Amsterdam, sharing their knowledge at Chamalo’s dance school, Castle of Dance.
